Festive Makeup Look #1

I am a big makeup fan and wear it everyday! My favourite time of the year for makeup has to be Christmas time. December is the month where  I love rocking a red lip and even a touch of eyeshadow too. I have put together a little festive makeup look that I definitely go to at this time of the year. It’s using a mixture of high end and drugstore products but they are all products I genuinely love and use to create my favourite festive makeup look…

To start off the look I used my Body Shop instant glow enhancer from the vitamin C range. This will give me the perfect glowy base for my festive look!
For my base I am using Rimmel lasting finish foundation in the shade 100 ivory and the Revlon colourstay concealer in the shade light. I’m using my real techniques buffing brush to blend it all together. I start by putting a little spot of foundation on each side of my face and forehead,  a little on my chin and a smidge on my nose. Blend it in with my buffing brush and then conceal under my eyes and any problem areas by dabbing my concealer with my fingers.

Next up I want to add some colour and dimension to my pale face! I use my trusty and super cheap contour kit from Seventeen in boots! I absolutely love this contour shade and it gives my big Hampster cheeks the illusion of cheekbones! Using my real techniques contour brush I swipe a little of the contour shade along my cheekbones starting from the top of my ear, put a little on the top corners of my forehead and blend along my jaw line. I then use my Collection highlighter roll on stick along the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, on my Cupid’s bow. To finish off I add a touch of Rimmel blush in the shade 031 berry for the perfect winter glow.

Next up is BROWS! This is actually my least favourite part of my makeup routine. I am quite lucky in the fact I have naturally nice eyebrows, they are a really nice shape and I hardly have to touch them! But I do like to touch them up a little when I do my makeup and I have found a really easy combo which is so easy and quick for me to use and it’s really affordable too so I don’t have to fork out a lot for something that I hate doing! I start off by combing them with my Maybeline brow drama in the shade medium and then using my zoeva angled liner brush and a medium/dark brown eyeshadow I fill in any gaps in the brows.
I then pop on one of my favourite festive red colours which I bang on about all the time. Bourjois liquid lipstick in the shade 08 grand gru. This is a really festive deep red a perfect day to night colour and perfect for this time of year!

Now onto the eyes. I’m not one for going heavy in the eyes. I prefer a bold lip and a winged liner for my day to day look. However a festive makeup look wouldn’t be anything without a glittery shadow! I have gone for my favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment which is the Balm’s ‘nude tude’ palette – you can check out my blog post on it here – this for me if perfect as it has some basic nude shades but also some lovely bronzey shimmery shades which is exactly what I was going for, for this look. I started with a matte brown shade (sultry) then added a little darker shimmer in my crease (selfish) and then blended the gold and pink shimmery shades (snobby & standoffish) to create the perfect shimmery derive colour! I then finish the eyeshadow off by blending the colours together and adding a little white shimmery shade in the corner to brighten up the eye!

After the shadow is finished I then create my winged liner using the Collection extreme 24 hour felt tip liner which is honestly my go to liner… It’s so easy to use, cheap and does the job! Then onto one of my favourites and for me it’s the part that transforms the look! I have really small eyes and very light eyelashes so mascara really does change my look and I love it. This has to be one of my favourite mascaras from this year… Benefits roller lash!

As its a Christmas makeup look it wouldn’t be finished unless I added a bit more shimmer! For this I used the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick and brushed it along my cheekbones for extra shimmer.

Here’s step by step pictures from the base to adding some colour and brows and then the finished look accompanied with a high pony tail and Christmas bow! **side note… Please ignore my hideous bags in the top picture I was very tired… Clearly!**

What’s your favourite go to festive makeup look? Anything I should try for another festive makeup look?
