Its about time that Southampton’s City Centre had a revamp and with the new addition to The Westquay, The Watermark has done exactly that. Thaikhun welcomes a taste of Thailand to Southampton!
The restaurant itself is really fresh, cool looking. It is honestly like stepping into a scene from Thailand. The decor is amazing from the bike hanging, to the open kitchen and giant map of Thailand. Its so different from the common Italian restaurants or the cheeky Nandos that we are flooded with in town.
I have only ever eaten at one other Thai restaurant so I was excited to try out the food. We had an array of food to sample including pork dumplings, chicken satay sauce with a selection of dips, some kind of garlic toast and more. I even tried a Thai delicacy WORMS!
Thaikhun are supporting dry January this month by holding a Cocktail competition. The lovely team at Thaikhun invited some of the Southampton Bloggers down to celebrate the launch of the restaurant, to taste some of their gorgeous food and for a little mocktail master class where we mastered the art and made our very own mocktail. Mine consisted of Orange juice, Pure Lemon Juice, Passion fruit syrup topped with a strawberry, jelly babies and a sprinkling of sprinkles – I named it Bright eyes. I was so impressed with my mocktail making skills.
You can join in too by creating your own mocktails at home, sharing a picture and the recipe by clicking here! They will chose a winner who’s mocktail will feature in their cocktail menu nationwide, with £1 of each sale going towards the Thai Childrens Trust. The Winner will also win a Thaikhun Orange card which entitles them to two free meals throughout the year.
Thank you for having me Thaikhun and I can’t wait to go back with some friends and enjoy the food properly!
