Not only home to Hampshires cricket team, the Ageas Bowl offers their guests a comfortable stay at the Hilton Hotel, overlooking the Areas Bowl grounds. Situated just outside of Southamptons City Centre, the Hilton Hotel makes for the perfect overnight stay if you are in Southampton for the cricket, seeing a concert or perhaps travelling from the local airport or cruise port.
Within the Hotel is their very own Eforea Spa, and is open to not only hotel guests, but the general public too. I was kindly invited along for a complimentary Spa day*, including afternoon tea and a 60 minute treatment last week and honestly had the best day. Its not often that I take myself somewhere, on my own and just relax. This was really needed and just the perfect treat to unwind and de-stress before the busy festive period coming up.
Upon arrival, you sign in and get a tour of Eforea Spa (to help with not getting lost) and are taken to the changing rooms, which blew me away before even entering Eforea Spa. With a luxury design and lots of space, I loved the attention to detail, especially the beautiful dressing tables with a space for you to dry your hair and sort yourself out after a day of living the life of luxury. You get given a locker which holds your robe, slippers and towel before being left to your own devices to enjoy the day.
The Spa itself is a great size and very sophisticated. Although it can be a bit of a maze to find your way around, you really are spoilt for choice with the facilities, boasting two different types of steam rooms, a large sauna, hot stone relaxation beds, foot spa, hydrotherapy pool. There is also an outside jacuzzi, a relaxation room with hanging pods to sleep in, along with 8 treatment rooms and a nail spa and salon. All set in the most serene atmosphere, with beautiful, aromatic scents accompanied with the relaxing music and waterfall.
Eforea use all Elemis products, which I have used before and love. They offer an extensive range of facials and massages to meet all of your needs. I had a 60 minute Elemis facial and body sensation massage. My spa therapist, Lola, talked with me before the treatment, to discuss any skin or body concerns, to ensure I could get the most out of my treatment. This was the best body massage I have ever had, we discovered 3 large knots that Lola worked hard to undo, and I left feeling like a new woman. Lola also gave me a card with the name of all the products and useful skin tips for me to help tackle my dry skin problems. The treatment room was just perfect, secluded, away from the rest of the spa, you are in your own little bubble of pure bliss with a beautiful aroma of smells and relaxing music to really get you in the zone. 60 minutes of sitting in this dark room was a little daunting for me to start with, but the Spa therapists honestly conduct some form of magic in there, I swear!
As I have mentioned, you really are spoilt for choice at Eforea, not only with the choice of spa facilities and pool but they also have a fitness suite. Its offers all your essential gym equipment and is the perfect space to go and work out before a day of relaxation. You really could spend hours and hours here!
For me, a spa day is not a spa day without afternoon tea and Eforea offer you just that. I would like to think I have had a well rounded experience of “testing” these out now, and this one has to be up there with on of the nicest. For me its all down to the scones and cream, and these scones were warm, fluffy and were accompanied by a wonderful, fresh clotted cream. Not to mention the delicious finger sandwiches and beautiful crafted cakes and pastries. This just adds another level of luxury to your day, and would be a perfect treat for someone special.
Eforea offer a couple of different spa packages ranging from £40+ or you can pay for just access to the spa facilities for £25 Mon – Thur and £35 Fri – Sun. They also offer spa memberships starting at £50 a month. I personally think that Eforea is great value for money, Spa days for me are usually far and few between and I see them more as a treat. But I think Eforea Spa is really reasonable in price, especially for the quality you receive. It is just the perfect place in Southampton to escape life stresses, indulge in a little ‘me time’ and simply relax, even without a treatment, I certainly can’t wait to return very soon!
