I love New Years day and the build up to the New Year. I just feel excited for the next year, and the challenges and adventures to come with it. I had a good time off over the Christmas period this year too, which I usually don’t get but I am going to make sure I do from now on, as I was able to properly relax, and do things I have been meaning to do for a while. I have had a big clear out, sorted through my clothes and makeup, and just got myself a little more in order.
I also love the build up to the New Year as I start to feel really inspired, its a fresh start, another year, and a chance to reflect back on the past year, you can read all about my reflections in my previous post here! And after reflections, its time to set goals and aspirations for the next year, start planning those holidays and adventures. I thought I would share some of my goals and plans for the next year on here, and I can check back here at the end of 2019 to see how I did!
First goal is to be more aware of my carbon footprint, be more eco-friendly and conscious of my impact on the environment. Now, this is something I started in 2018 that I want to continue and improve on. Global warming and the environmental issues that we are facing and is happening to our planet is a major issue, everyone has a part to play, and its not just down to plastic carrier bags and coffee cups, although making these small changes does help, but we need to do more, and think on a larger scale.
Which brings me onto my second goal, shop less. Fashion is the biggest environmental factor to global warming. Fast fashion in particular is the issue, and is something I have fallen guilty to over the past few years. I am attempting to create and follow a “capsule wardrobe” this year, which I am also hoping to write about later down the line. The aim behind this capsule wardrobe, is to cut down on clothing, love and where every single piece in my wardrobe, cut down on shopping and only shopping when I need something that is missing from my wardrobe rather than just for the sake of it.
The next goal may seem like a bit of a cliche, but for me it is a really important goal and that is to become healthier and exercise more. In the past year due to career and lifestyle changes, I have been eating the worst I have ever eaten and stopped going to the gym. I have put on quite a lot of weight, which makes me unhappy and is just not healthy. I let things in my life takeover from important things such as exercising. I have re-joined the gym and I can’t wait to become healthier this year both psychically and mentally. One thing I really would like to try and possibly get into is yoga, so watch the space…
Pass my driving test! Now I am a little behind on this one compared to a lot of people my age. Mainly due to the fact, I
hate hated driving with a passion. It caused me huge anxiety and like a lot of things that I don’t like doing, I just pushed it to the background to deal with later. After a few hiccups with driving with parents, dodgy instructors and an absolute mare with the intensive course, I finally found an incredible driving instructor at the end of 2018, he has completely built my confidence up and I am raring to go! I have booked my test and now I can’t wait to drive. Its been a long time coming for sure!
Smash my new job and keep learning! I got a promotion at the end of 2018, so 2019 will be another year of working hard, learning a lot, pushing myself hard. I am really looking forward to the challenges and experience this year will teach me.
And the last goal I am going to share with you is an important one for sure, and something I really did not do enough of last year and that is to take care of myself better. Have more “me time” where I just sit in a bath and relax, go on a long dog walk, what ever takes my fancy! But just every so often, have some time where I completely relax, on my own and chill out.
